Teguise Lanzarote
Teguise was the capital of the island up to 1852. Nowadays,
Arrecife is the capital.
Among the things to visit in Teguise are Palacio
Spínola, a former stately home, which is now a museum
and residence of the Canary island government and Castillo
de Santa Bárbara, the oldest fort on the island,
which houses the Museo del Emigrante Canario
and from the roof, offers amazing views of the surrounding countryside.
Apart from the historical richness of Teguise,
there are many opportunities to see and buy local crafts,
especially in the market which takes place in
the streets and squares every Sunday.
Jameos del Agua Lanzarote
Jameos del Agua lies at the foot of the Monte del la Corona volcano, in
the north of the island. It is an intriguing network of caves
and grottoes which were developed for public viewing by
César Manrique.
Beside Jameos Grande there is a beautiful garden
with a swimming pool and two bars, which at
night becomes a night club.
A concert hall can be found at the end of Jameo
Grande. This holds 600 people and has amazing natural accoutics, making
it an unusual and interesting place to view a concert.

Mirador del Río
Mirador del Río is situated in the north of the island, 479m above

and the islet Montaña Clara.
This is a converted Spanish ammunition storage battery (converted by César

and a garden.
